Jack Jones has been performing and teaching music for nearly 30 years. He has a B.M. in Music Education from the University of LA at Monroe, and a  Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. His earliest education, however, came from sitting in with his father’s country band from the age of 10. He was playing jazz, blues, and rock gigs in North Louisiana full time by age 19. 

Jack has has toured the U.S. and Japan extensively with jamband luminary, Col. Bruce Hampton, Texas Blues artist Chris Duarte, and Blair Crimmins and the Hookers. In 2019,  Jack was featured in YouTube music channel host, Rick Beato’s videos: Top 20 Drum Intros of All Time and Top 20 Drum Fills of All Time, and many other videos demonstrating and teaching drum parts to famous songs. They have collectively received many millions of views.

Jack also worked as freelance performing, recording, and touring drummer in Atlanta, GA from 2005 - 2011 and again from 2015 -2022. (He took a pause to return to school in between). He worked with many local and national  artists in highly varied musical situations and styles. Artists such as:  Scott Henderson, Keven Bales, The Joe Gransden Big Band, Tommy Talton, Randal Brablett, Francine Reed, and played as the primary drummer with The Mike Veal Band, a premier Atlanta cover band which required immense versatility and knowledge of songs. During this time he was also very active in education and worked as a professor at the Atlanta Institute of Music where he taught numerous courses and contributed to the curriculum.

In 2022, Jack moved closer to home in New Orleans, LA, where he quickly got to work in the vibrant and historic music city. He can be seen playing around town on Frenchman and Bourbon st, the Maple Leaf and many other historic venues. He performs regularly with singer Lynn Drury and Willie Lockett and the Blues Krewe and many others. He continues to tour and record with various projects.

Jack also composes and leads his own groups. In June of 2023, he released his debut solo effort, FOUND. It includes original compositions based on his concept of combining a jazz piano trio with synth sounds. It is available for streaming at all streaming sites.
